Barney Barry, the best mother, grandmother & great gran that ever lived!!
Barney was born in Dublin, her mother was the eldest Mcgrane daughter, Mary Catherine Reavy formerly of Knockline Castle, and her father Charles Grew Reavy, from Orchardton, Ratharnam.
The family moved to Cardiff where her father became a successful greyhound trainer, a profession she followed into gaining her own licence in 1952. She married Jim Barry (Cork) also a greyhound trainer and lived at Home Farm, Cefn Mably Crdiff. widowed in 1965, with 4 young children, Charles, Carmel, the now late Des & James. Barney's career was successful with some great dogs, owners and colleagues, trainers, kennel staff alike.
Barney looked after her family, her Mum and children and provided the best life possible for them in the countryside at Cefn mably, leaving there in 1990 on her retirement. The Arms Park GRC closed down in 1977, so Barney carried on with a Boarding Kenel businss until the sale of the land in 1990.
Barney is a terific friend to all her family and their friends, and this is witnessed by the huge tributes and comforing words showered following her recent death.
Barney would like to single out Dr Julie Scholey, retired from Brynderwen Surgery in St mellons Cardiff, as would we, her family for the fantastic care over 18 years.
Barney had been fit and healthy and unfortunately became unwell only in the last month.
Barney has 4 children: Charles 62, Carmel 60, the late Des (died aged 51 in 2012) and James 54, all living in Cardiff with her.
She was and adored mother-in law, Carol Fernquest, David Redman & Fran Munro
Barney has treasured grandchildren:

She has 2 great grandchildren, Lola Olivia and Jak Patrick

Teri & Phil and the families
Eamon & Anne & Jack & Lauren

just found out on web site ..so so sorry for your loss .mrs barry was a lovery lady i remember her from the kennels in the 60s 70s .i work for ray burton RIP.
We read of Barney's death in today's Irish Times and wish to extend our deepest sympathy to all her family.Although we did not know her,she was part of our family.Her mother May was my mother's first cousin .We share a McGrane ancestry .I hope we may be in touch in the future.May she rest in peace.Carmel Shanahan
