Mehdi was born on 19 April 1954 in Meshad, Iran. In 1973, at only 18 years old, Mehdi made the courageous, yet very difficult decision to move away from his family to the UK. He did so to pursue his formal education and see what opportunities he could find in the West.
Mehdi arrived in Newport, South Wales with very little grasp of English language. He very quickly made friends with other students in Newport and studied hard to gain his qualifications to set him on the path of a great Engineering career. He studied at Glamorgan University to achieve a BSC in Chemical Engineering. It also didn't take him long to meet his future wife, Janet Davies.

Mehdi and Jan married in 1978 and had two children, Abbie and Luke. Mehdi's career began with 15 years at the Whibread brewary in Magor where he developed as an Engineering Manager. Mehdi added to his qualifications constantly, including a HND Electrical Engineering and achieved the status of a Chartered Chemical Engineer.
Mehdi progressed to work as a Manager for Purolite, Estée Lauder, Tilda, and Cabot. Gaining a wealth of expertise in different industries saw Mehdi and the family move to the Solent, Winchester, Billericay (Essex) and finally back to their home in Newport. Mehdi completed his professional career with 7 years at Cabot Carbon in Barry where he made so many friends.
Mehdi had an ability to help anybody and put a smile on their face. He was full of life. He always loved playing squash and in his 50's took a love to windsurfing. Mehdi’s favorite local spot was Llandegfedd Reservoir, where he spent many happy hours on the open water, surrounded by lovely Welsh scenery.
We are eternally grateful for the wonderful memories and happy life Mehdi has given us. His legacy will live in all of us.
Thank you for your condolences.

We send our deepest condolences to you on the passing away of Medhi. Whilst we sadly cannot be with you today, please be assured of our thoughts and prayers today and in the days to come. We have such lovely memories of Mehdi and the wonderful man he was. We remember his warmth, his kindness and his cheerfulness so clearly. Love from us all.
Uncle Mehdi, you inspired me from a very young age to look beyond my own country and culture, to have a love of meeting people from all nations. I loved your attitude to life. You valued education, dreams, working hard and family. Jason and I always looked forward to our chats as have Cleo, Flo and Bella as they became teenagers. You will be very missed but we are all thankful to have had you in our lives. May you rest in peace. xxxx
To my darling mehdi
Oh darling, I want so much to hold your hand, walk in the sand, laugh together.
You made me so happy so deliriously happy wrapped up in your strong arms, I felt safe from all the world’s harm.
Everyone loved your beautiful smile,
Your cheeky grin when we were not sure what you were thinking.
Being with you made everything possible
You made all my hopes and dreams come true. Nothing was ever too much trouble for you.
When God made you he blessed the world with a very special person. A person so special, so unique it breaks my heart to say goodbye.
Our four little grandsons have your strength, your beautiful looks and determination. I know they will make their papa proud.

The best dressed man in South Wales. Brought a bit of style and colour to all our lives. That's how I'll remember him. Proud to have known Mehdi....I shall be wearing my best pink trousers in his honour.
It is with deep and profound sadness that I heard of Medhi's passing last week.
I am so thankful to have known and worked with him for a number of years. He was a great guy and a true gent! Both a colleague and a friend - he was dedicated in everything he did, be -it in work, play or socially.
I wish to celebrate him as he was.....a genuine, lovely man, and to his wonderful outgoing character (including his "winklepickers', bright clothes and everlasting dark brown hair! :) )
It is far too soon for Medhi to leave us, but he will always remain in our memories.
Thinking of Janet and the rest of your family at this very sad time.
Rest in peace Medhi.
